As a charity we rely on the generosity of our supporters. There are lots of ways to get involved and support us – from visiting the sanctuary to buying an animal an enrichment gift from our Amazon Wishlist. Your support goes towards…
Our current appeal
Help us raise the roof!
Please support our appeal to expand & rebuild our original primate house
This enclosure was built in 2006 to house the first monkeys that Don rescued. The Siamangs and Mueller’s gibbons live here, along with the Colobus and other monkeys that we care for. The building is now coming to the end of its lifespan so we’ve launched this appeal to help raise funds for a new enclosure.
Things have moved on a lot since 2006 – we plan to create a state of the art enclosure built from sustainable materials that will give Xhabu, Bog and their friends more space to live in.
Gibbons are arboreal, that means they live up high, leaping from limb to limb as they travel among the trees. That’s why you see Bog swinging around at the top of his enclosure. So as well as rebuilding the primate house, we want to literally raise the roof, and give the gibbons more space to swing around. This also means we can give them even more enrichment activities to help them feel at home.
We’re so grateful for any donation you can make towards building this new home.
Thank you,
Monkey Haven Animal Care team xx

Our charity relies on the generosity of our supporters, and we still need your help.
Animal adoptions
By adopting an animal you will be contributing towards their upkeep.
An adoption makes a very special gift, and also gives you a lovely feel-good glow. We’ll send the lucky recipient a bundle of goodies, depending on which adoption you choose.
Food donations
We have a food drop off point where you can leave any excess fruit and veg for us to use. Here’s how it gets put to use…
Help us give our animals a present to remember
Our residents love treats and enrichment toys – so make their day and buy them a little something from our Amazon Wish List.
Please ask Amazon to send your gift to:
Monkey Haven, 5 Acres Farm, Staplers Road, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 2NB
If you include a message for your favourite animal, then the keepers will pass it on for you. Please leave your name so we can give you a shout out on our socials. Thank you for your support – you’re amazing!
Meet the Rhesus Macaques
Meet the Rhesus Macaques
Rhesus Macaques share 93% of our DNA – around 25 million years ago we would have been the same species!
They live in troops of up to 200 in the wild. The females run the show and how important a monkey is within the group will depend on who their mum is.
Spok is the joker of the pack. He was named after Mr Spock from Star Trek due to his pointy ears. He was born here. His mum, Tammy, was pregnant when she came to the Haven – but we had no idea, so it was quite a shock when little Spok was born!
Star supporters
We are grateful to every single person who visits the Haven or tells their friends about us or writes a review on TripAdvisor. A big thank you also goes to everyone who donates their money or time to help us care for animals in need. Every animal adoption is much appreciated too. And every single gift chosen from our Wish List gives the animals and staff a lovely boost.

Müeller's Gibbons adopted on 28/02/2026Sponsor us!
We have a limited number of opportunities for individuals and businesses to sponsor an enclosure at Monkey Haven. All sponsors have a custom-made plaque outside their animals’ enclosure, and we’ll also thank you on our website. As an added bonus, due to our charitable status, certain donations and sponsorships will qualify for tax relief.
Sponsorship runs for one year with prices depending on the size of the enclosure and the popularity of the animals. By sponsoring an enclosure, you will be helping our primate rescue centre to expand and develop… and the monkeys (and our staff) will be extremely grateful!
