We want your visit to be safe as well as fun…
We are opening for long weekends (Friday – Monday, 10am-5pm) until the 17th May. From here on, we plan on opening every day throughout the season. We will start with a gradual opening and, dependant on visitors, we hope to introduce more days throughout the month, so please support us as we’d love to see you all again!
Good to Go…
We’ve worked hard to implement many measures enabling a safe and relaxing visit. The following health and safety measures have been put in place to protect you, our team and the animals.
The ‘rule of 6’* Due to the latest Government guidelines, we are unable to permit any groups of guests with more than six people into the sanctuary. Please do not book tickets for a group larger than six people, unless your single household family ‘bubble’ has more than six people in it. Thanks for your understanding in keeping Monkey Haven a Covid safe attraction. For further details on the latest Government guidelines please follow the link here.
Tickets – we strongly encourage you to buy tickets in advance, through our new online system, so that we can responsibly manage visitor numbers. This will guarantee that you can come on the day that you want to visit. We will also be selling a limited number of tickets on the door, space permitting. Numbers will be capped each day, for your comfort and safety.
Xhabu’s Tea Room – will be open and serving takeaway food and drinks. Please feel free to bring your own picnic – we have a spacious picnic area for your enjoyment.
Reptile Lodge and the New World Monkey House – in line with government guidelines, these areas will have to remain closed until May 17th. We will re-open these buildings just as soon as we can.
Screens – these have been installed at the entrance, Tea Room, Ice Cream Shack and shop.
Cleaning – even before the pandemic, we were obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness, and we’ve ramped it up even more now. The whole Park has been deep cleaned and we will be cleaning and sanitising everything with a hard surface throughout the day. That includes doors, screens, railings, benches and picnic tables.
Toilets – they will be open. Regular cleaning, sanitising and monitoring will take place throughout the day.
Hand washing – we ask all visitors to wash their hands frequently. Sanitiser stations will be available throughout the Haven. All visitors must sanitise their hands on entering the park.
Face masks – If you wish to visit our gift shop, we politely request that you put your face covering on before entering. Our exit is also via our gift shop so we will require you to wear your masks when leaving too, but if you would rather exit via a different route please just let us know. If you forget your mask, we have disposable masks available at our entrance for a small donation. Face masks are not required for all areas of the haven, however you are more than welcome to wear a mask, or any other PPE when you visit.
Floor markings and additional signage – we’ve been busy putting in signage to remind visitors of the importance of social distancing. Please keep a socially safe distance from visitors and staff (2m).
Keeper talks and animal encounters – these have temporarily been suspended but we hope to reinstate these as soon as we are allowed. However you will see our Keepers throughout the day, feeding our animals, and they will be on hand to answer your questions. We have loads of fun and informative signage about the rescued animals you will meet and don’t forget to download our App!
App – our fun, free App will help you to plan your day. You can take silly selfies, follow a banana trail and get a sneaky look behind the scenes.
Kids’ Trail – the stampers for the activity trail have been removed. Children will still receive a free kids’ booklet with fun activities and a pencil.
Payments – please make contactless payments wherever possible. We will accept cash if this isn’t feasible.
Symptoms – staff have received COVID-19 related training and are not allowed to come to work if they show any symptoms or are in close contact with anyone who has the virus. If any members of staff become ill, they will be asked to self isolate at home, and follow government guidance. If you have possible symptoms, we respectfully ask you not to visit the sanctuary.
