We want your visit to be safe as well as fun…

Over the past 18 months we have worked hard to implement many measures enabling a safe and relaxing visit to Monkey Haven – protecting you, our team and our animals.

Although restrictions have been lifted, we are still leaving certain measures in place to protect our Haven family and our primates. We run the sanctuary via a very small team who are vital in caring for our animals every day. Some of our team are young adults and have not been ‘double jabbed’ so we are kindly asking visitors to still wear masks when walking through our indoor areas – tea room, shop and the reptile lodge.

We simply can not risk the safety or isolation of any staff members and as always, the primates and animals in our care is paramount. Many thanks for your understanding and co-operation at this time.  We really appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you all soon 🐒💚

Monkey Haven COVID-19 policy:

Tickets – we strongly encourage you to buy tickets in advance, through our new online system, so that we can responsibly manage visitor numbers. This will guarantee that you can come on the day that you want to visit. We will also be selling a limited number of tickets on the door, space permitting. Numbers will be capped each day, for your comfort and safety.

Xhabu’s Tea Room – will be open and serving food and drinks. you can sit inside or there is plenty of outside seating available. Please feel free to bring your own picnic – we have a spacious picnic area for your enjoyment.

Reptile Lodge and the New World Monkey House – these areas are now open but we ask you to please wear your face masks when entering.

Screens – these have been installed at the entrance, Tea Room, Ice Cream Shack and shop; and will remain in place.

Cleaning – even before the pandemic, we were obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness, and we’ve ramped it up even more now. The whole Park has been deep cleaned and we will be cleaning and sanitising everything with a hard surface throughout the day. That includes doors, screens, railings, benches and picnic tables.

Toilets – they will be open. Regular cleaning, sanitising and monitoring will take place throughout the day.

Hand washing – we ask all visitors to wash their hands frequently. Sanitiser stations will be available throughout the Haven. All visitors must sanitise their hands on entering the park.

Face masks –  If you wish to visit our gift shop, we politely request that you put your face covering on before entering. Our exit is also via our gift shop so we will require you to wear your masks when leaving too, but if you would rather exit via a different route please just let us know. If you forget your mask, we  have disposable masks available at our entrance for a small donation. Face masks are not required for all areas of the haven, however you are more than welcome to wear a mask, or any other PPE when you visit.

Social distancing – we respect that many of our visitors may be anxious about being in a crowded environment. Therefore we are maintaining our social distancing rules, please keep a socially safe distance from visitors and staff (2m).

Animal encounters – our Keeper for the Day experiences are still suspended but we hope to reinstate these soon.

App – our fun, free App will help you to plan your day. You can take silly selfies, follow a banana trail and get a sneaky look behind the scenes.

Kids’ Trail – the stampers for the activity trail have been removed. Children will still receive a free kids’ booklet with fun activities and a pencil.

Payments – please make contactless payments wherever possible. We will accept cash if this isn’t feasible.

Symptoms – staff have received COVID-19 related training and are not allowed to come to work if they show any symptoms or are in close contact with anyone who has the virus. If any members of staff become ill, they will be asked to self isolate at home, and follow government guidance. If you have possible symptoms, we respectfully ask you not to visit the sanctuary.
